Resiliency Redefined: Massachusetts Emergency Shelter Can Be Powered By Solar in Event of An Outage

It was announced today that the first project under Connecticut’s “Shared Clean Energy Facility Pilot Program” has been energized. The 2MW community solar project is located on the grounds of the Bloomfield Board of Education. This initial community solar offering allows the option for residents, governments and businesses to choose community solar energy for the first time. The project is a collaboration between Ameresco, Inc. and the Clean Energy Collective (CEC).

Construction on the array began in early February and was completed by Ameresco in August. The state’s inaugural project will generate clean, renewable energy and provide savings to residents, the school district and low- to moderate-income subscribers. The project will allow for a 60 percent off-take in energy demand for the school district, with the remaining capacity available for the residential community.

Ameresco will oversee the operations and maintenance of the site, while CEC will provide customer care services.

At Energy Manager Today, we cover commercial and industrial energy management issues; our publication’s purpose is to keep energy managers informed about today’s issues, typically focusing on news surrounding what companies are doing in the energy management space and how it will affect our readers. And while that news is vital to energy managers and their ability to do their jobs, our mission has evolved as we came to realize that it is equally important to recognize the people in the space – the vice presidents, directors, managers, and engineers responsible for driving their companies, and the energy management industry itself, forward. Thus, our recognition program was born in 2017 as a way to honor these individuals.
